HOW TO DEVELOP A SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL VISION FOR YOUR LIFE

HOW TO DEVELOP A SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL VISION FOR YOUR LIFE

Looking at our world today, you will see young people that are confused about life, uncertain about the future, depressed and hopeless in life. When they look at the political and economic instability they give up even on their dreams – all these are simply a result of lack of VISION.
It is clearly written in the bible “where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; (Proverbs 29:18a AMP).
Therefore, vision is a necessity if living a fulfilling and happy life is important to you. Everything you see in the world today is a result of the vision of a man or a woman who looked beyond themselves and developed a propelling vision and committed their entire life to its fulfillment.
Vision sets you free from the limitations of your environment and exposes you to the limitless possibilities in your heart. It sparks lights of hope and pictures of a better world. It is one of the greatest gifts given to us to propel our progress.
All those who have accomplished great things in the world had a compelling vision. In contrast, those who are stuck and in poverty often don’t have vision. They just want to survive. They don’t plan ahead or know what next for their lives.
Life is predictable; therefore a life of fulfillment does not happen by chance but by design. That is why science has thrived in many things.

To understand vision, you need to know what purpose is.

Purpose is the reason why a thing is made. So for you to appear on planet earth, it means that there is something specific that God wants you to accomplish; and accomplishing that thing becomes your vision.

What then is vision?

Vision is a mental picture of a future that has not yet come into existence. It is the ability to see farther than the eyes can look.
Vision can also be said to be a compelling and a propelling life’s goal based on purpose.
Vision is the key to the future.

Why is vision important?

  • ·         When you have vision, you will always be self-motivated.
  • ·         Vision preserves the visionary; it gives you reason to live.
  • ·         Vision brings in focus and discipline into your life.
  • ·         Vision gives you a sense of purpose.
  • ·         Vision commands provision.
  • ·         Positive visions bring about positive changes in the society.

HOW TO DEVELOP VISION

Look up to God: Purpose is the source of vision. God made you and like everything else,, He created you with a purpose and therefore vision helps you accomplish that purpose. Look towards Him for the vision of your life.
Look at Habakkuk 2: 1-3 AMP
I will stand at my guard post
And station myself on the tower; And I will keep watch to see what He will say to me, And what answer I will give [as His spokesman] when I am reproved.
Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write the vision And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets
So that the one who reads it will run.
For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time
It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.’’

When you ask God in prayer, you will receive spirit inspired thoughts. You will receive a vision for your life. Then the responsibility to write it down becomes you. First you listen to Him, and then write down what He said clearly and plainly.  Also develop it into a working document.

Look within you: With every product comes the capacity to fulfill its functions.  And with every seed is the potential to become a tree. So looking at your strengths, abilities and talents is a pointer to the problem you were born to solve. Sometimes what you dislike earnestly indicates that you have what it takes to change it. Someone said ‘’eyes that looks are common but eyes that sees are rare’’. So for you to see something and wants to change it is an indication of your vision.
In looking within, you can ask yourself these questions and the answer will help you develop your vision statement.
  1.  Who do I want to be? ( the best you can be is what God created you to be)
  2.  What do I want out of life?
  3. What contribution do I want to make?

Answering the above questions will help you develop a personal vision statement that will guide your life and catapult you to the future that you desire.
Nations, corporate organizations, individuals have developed their vision statement. And this guides their activities and choices.

Example of vision statement
“Transforming followers to leaders and the maximization of individual potential”
“To bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world” – Nike
“To take the divine presence of God to the people of the world, and to demonstrate the character of the Holy Spirit” – Loveworld Incorporated
“…raising role models” – Daystar Christian Centre

How to check your vision
Two things you should look out for when writing your vision statement
·         Does it bring glory to God?
·         Does it impact the life of others positively?
Once these two criteria are met, you have your personal vision statement. And then think about it, meditate on it so much that you speak it, see it and become the person in the vision.

LAST WORD

You have what it takes to make a difference in the world. But start from where you are. Be a role model, inculcate discipline into your life with vision, and help others do the same.
