MY APPARENT DISCOVERY ABOUT LIFE'S GOALS

MY APPARENT DISCOVERY ABOUT LIFE's GOAL

Growing up I used to be inquisitive…full of dreams and somehow… goal driven.

I remember taking sixth position in primary one (grade one) and did not like it at all. Then getting to primary two I wanted first position but ended up taking third and then second position- it seems like first position hated me and I was pleading to at least know how it feels like to be number one. Unfortunately, I didn’t take first position until JSS2 (High school) and surprisingly, I didn’t feel anything special. I recalled one time I took second position in primary five and was very miserable- I was crying and didn’t want to go home. Yeah that was how serious I was about life but is that the best approach? We will see

I had dreams of becoming great and becoming a philanthropist. I simply wanted to make a difference in my world. Like me, I know you have dreams, goals and great feats you want to accomplish in your lifetime, which is even why you are reading this article right now.
Truth is, no matter where you are in your life’s journey; learn to relax. Smell the roses. Take it one step that a time. Don’t try to have everything figured out.

In our quest for setting goals and writing things that we hope to accomplish, we sometimes bother ourselves too much about how we want to accomplish those goals. These make the whole process mechanical and rigid that we pass over different opportunities without even realizing it.

On a certain day, I got a message from my mentor to follow him to interview one executive in a multinational in this part of the Niger. I was excited and was looking for to the Question and Answer session. The time came we drove down to his apartment and was politely received; apparently he just got back from a meeting and we simply asked if we could commence the interview or give him a little time to rest. He quickly obliged us to go on with it.
Immediately after the interview, my mentor asked if I had a personal question to ask this experienced executive; Of course I did. And the answer he gave me changed my perspective and informed me concerning the future.

Here is the discovery!

When you set goals, be CLEAR really CLEAR about it. Know exactly what success means to you, that is, how you can ascertain that you have achieved your goal.

Then

Understand that it will take a discipline approach to practices to achieve your goal.
Identify practices that are KEY to the achievement of your goals and get on with them.
Cultivate a mindset of winning and expect good and wonderful things to happen.
And lastly, which is the main point.

STAY OPEN, life is bigger than you, the inevitable will happen, but don’t fright. Just take CONSISTENT opportunities as they come. Don’t reject opportunities because they are not conventional to you.
God has a way of bringing all that you want to you in ways that you least expected

Be objective

Be detailed in your preparation

BUILD A DISCIPLINE CULTURE OR SYSTEM around the practices that will help you achieve your goals

Be balanced and take opportunities as they come. This is my apparently discovery.

LAST WORD

I believe you will succeed and will accomplish great feats. We need you to make a difference in the world. And you CAN. Impact the human race!
