TACKLE THE THING

TACKLE THE THING

Tackle the thing by island expression

I often hear young people say things like ‘Abeg this is not my thing’ (Nigerian Pidgin). Well that’s cool but what is your thing? What is that thing that your life represents? What is your goal?

Life is meaningless without a goal. I once heard the man of God Pastor Chris Oyakhilome say Life without Christ is meaningless. And that burst my bubbles. In fact it got my attention.

Your life is a gift to you; and you have the responsibility to make it what you want it to be. But the tragic thing is that quite a lot of people don’t even know what their live represents. They don’t have goals in life. So everything goes. They often times enjoy this song ‘I can’t kill myself’ by a Nigerian musician… LOL
Interestingly, I don’t blame them. Life is made to be lived and enjoyed so please don’t kill yourself. Hence, I want to help you learn how to enjoy your life. And it is very simple “TACKLE THE THING”

Find your thing and tackle it. Your thing in our context is a goal that you want to commit your life to achieve. I call this your life’s dream.

According to Bill Newman; A goal is an aim, a sense of direction where your energies are directed.

Your life becomes exciting and worth living when you have a goal that you can channel your enormous energy to. Look beyond your present environment and circumstances and decide that you will do all it takes to achieve the thing.

Bernie Rhodes said, what is important is not where you are but where you are going.
How true! What is that picture of you that wets your appetite? That picture that gives you a smile when no one is watching – go for it.
To tackle the thing, you must plan.
Most successful people are strategist and planners. It is a good exercise that will help you accomplish your goals faster. A goal without a plan of accomplishment is only a wish.
Eleanor Roosevelt said it takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan

So PLAN!

Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.
It helps you to ask the important questions. What is exactly my goal? How can I achieve it? When do I want to achieve it? Why is it even important that I achieve it? And finally, how do I know that I have achieved it?

When you answer these questions, you have succeeded in coming up with the most important document that will drive your actions and consequently, your life. Your life will have meaning. And gradually you will notice that energies, resources and people will be drawn to you to help you achieve your goal.
Now that you know your thing, you have a responsibility to do it. Pour your energy into it.
Harry S. Truman found that the men and women who got to the top are those who did the jobs they had in hand, with everything they had, of energy and enthusiasm and hard work.

Put in the required work. Pay the price.

Secondly, believe in yourself. Believe that you can do it. Don’t listen to the negative voices that tell you that you can’t. Shut your ears against them and prove to the world around you that you are truly a success.

Hannah More puts it better, she said, obstacles are those things that you see when you take your eyes off the goal.
Don’t take your eyes off. Focus on the goal. Imagine it, dream it and act it. Do something every day in line with your dreams and goals. Build your dreams. Don’t be a spectator. Enthusiastically show the world that you are a masterpiece, because you are.
Believe in yourself

If no one has ever said this, let me tell you right now, I believe in you. I believe you have a thing that the world is patiently waiting for, but you have to tackle it. You have to do it and do it so well that others can aspire to your inspiration.
You can make a difference in the world. Every one of us can. But the question is, will you?

LAST WORD

I have made a decision to be globally relevant and to impact the world with the investment of my personality. I don’t just want to leave footprints in the sands of time. I want to leave a land mark and possibly a sky mark. Let’s do this together simply by tackling your thing while I tackle mine.
I have my sleeves folded; and I hope you do the same.
