MY APPARENT DISCOVERY ABOUT LIFE's GOAL Growing up I used to be inquisitive…full of dreams and somehow… goal driven. I remember taking sixth position in primary one (grade one) and did not like it at all. Then getting to primary two I wanted first position but ended up taking third and then second position- it seems like first position hated me and I was pleading to at least know how it feels like to be number one. Unfortunately, I didn’t take first position until JSS2 (High school) and surprisingly, I didn’t feel anything special. TACKLE THE THING I often hear young people say things like ‘Abeg this is not my thing’ (Nigerian Pidgin). Well that’s cool but what is your thing? What is that thing that your life represents? What is your goal? Life is meaningless without a goal. I once heard the man of God Pastor Chris Oyakhilome say Life without Christ is meaningless. And that burst my bubbles. In fact it got my attention. Your life is a gift to you; and you have the responsibility to make it what you want it to be. 7 THINGS I LEARNT FROM MY MENTOR In 2011, I met this very successful man, I mean in my assessment of him. And the weeks and months that followed he committed about 5 hours every other Saturday to teach young people the principles of success and that helped him get to where he is. At this point i would like to mention that; Success is a result of the combination of principles. No one singular standalone principle can make you successful. You have to learn the different principles that will take you to your envisaged future. BE RELEVANT TODAY On a certain day, I got into a conversation with a young lady and as the gist proceeds I was dumbfounded by her intense desire and passion to build an orphanage in the future. She wants to make a difference for the poor, homeless and those without help and hope. After listening to her at the time, I encouraged her to work on becoming great and achieving financial freedom to enable her build the right network and capacity to achieve her dreams. Just yesterday, in was also with another gentleman in his late teens, I was sharing the gospel with him and he was so excited especially when I shared my thought with him on vision.
